 Covington—Mrs. Bertha Elizabeth Dennis, 85, of Covington died at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 1973 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville where she had been a patient for one day.

  She was born Sept. 25, 1887, in Warren County, the daughter of John T. and Ida Taylor Rodgers and married April 12, 1905 to John M. Dennis, who died Feb. 28, 1966.

  She had resided in the Foster community until moving to Covington in 1967. She was a member of the Benson Chapel United Methodist Church and Woman’s Society of Christian Service.

  Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Helen D. Balsley of Lake Worth, Fla., and Mrs. Carol Small of Covington; a sister, Mrs. Ada Miller of Covington Route 1; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

  She was preceded in death by a son and a sister. Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Benson Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Merrill Shaw officiating. Burial was in the Upper Mound Cemetery after visitation at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home and services at the church.
